Thanks! I'll see if I can figure out how to save this.

Hi Mark! This is a great post☺️ you've already got me looking for different kinds of hoverflies when I'm out walking. But I did think of you last week driving through Scotland as I spotted an ENORMOUS fly on the inside of the window next to me. It had yellow and black markings and I could see it was a fly cos of the wings (at first glance all I could see was the colours and I thought hornet! Bear in mind i was driving at the time, my daughter made me pull over 😅). I got it out and looked it up in Chinnery when I got home, it was a huge giant horse fly, definitely bigger than the suggested 25mm. And I thought they were all brown. But still, insects eh. So fascinating 🌿🪰

Horseflies are some of the most vivid flies we have especially if you look at their eyes however you don’t want to be driving with one in the car so glad you got it out.

Looking into it's eyes was definitely not an option 🤣
